I'm alive.

Okay, I'd like to assure you all, I'm still working on this. I'll be honest, I've not done well since I had my surgery. Obviously, I've not been posting, and my weight has been all over the board (Monday I was up to 321.7, by Wednesday I was back down to 317.1 I don't know, I have a lot of room to fluctuate apparently). I've still been keeping up with my steps and making strides (bad pun) to walk more, but I've not been able to get my chunky butt up in the morning for the driveway exercise, and I've not even gotten out in the evenings for the long walks. There have been a combination of factors that have led to this. I'll assume that laziness has been the largest... followed by the wearing off of the novelty of the pedometer and such. Although I still wear the pedometer everyday and Tab and I challenge each other to certain things all the time. I hope to get better. I will make it a point to post on Monday, and then post once a day. If at all possible, one of you (or more) who follow this please, PLEASE call me out when I don't post (preferably in a witty/memorable way, it'll work trust me). I really think that this blog will be an integral part to my quest to become healthier.

It's been a while...

Okay, so... it's been a long time since I've written. I apologize for that. To be fair, my last entry was completed on the day that I had my wisdom teeth taken out and after that my diet and state of mind were... off. I had mostly ensure, broth, and other liquids for most of the time after that... I think that...

06/07/2009 - can of chicken noodles O's

06/08/2009
breakfast - kefir, bolthouse farms mango goodness and purple carrot, ensure
lunch - chicken noodle O's
dinner - meatless spaghetti, milk, ensure

06/09/2009
breakfast - smoothie
lunch - v-8, ensure
snack - 3 pieces of lunch meat, jello pudding
dinner - ensure? (I don't totally remember... that's probably partially due to the hydrocodone... yay!)

06/10/2009
breakfast - ensure
lunch - ensure, v-8, pudding applesauce
dinner - 1/2 balsamic fries, 1/4 Thai Pie, 2 beers (Ayinger Celebrator and 250th Anniversary Guinness)

06/11/2009
breakfast - ensure
lunch - 1/4 Thai Pie, v-8
dinner - chicken wings, sweet potato fries, roll, salad

06/12/2009
breakfast - ensure
lunch - v-8, ensure, 1/2 Clif bar
dinner - 6 pieces of Snappy Tomato Pizza, root beer (fun night)

06/13/2009
breakfast - 3 pieces of Snappy Tomato Pizza, root beer (fun morning)
lunch - 1 cup raw milk (FANTASTIC!)
dinner - brinner! sausage, eggs, roll, milk, and possibly some other stuff
snack - various cheeses, two bleus, one 5-year Gouda, one young Goat Cheese, two half bottles of wine.

So, I did weight myself Monday, that was good... made me feel somewhat better since I couldn't eat solid food. I was down to 315.5! I know, still a fatty, but... relatively less of a fatty!

I'll post another question soon.

Memorial Day Answer!

06/03/2009 -
breakfast - none
lunch - beef brisket sandwich, potato chips, pickle, 1/2 baked beans, cole slaw, 1/2 potato salad, sweet tea
dinner - fish taco, 2 tbsp whipped cream, milk

So... at 9:30am today, I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed... this should certainly be an experience unlike any other that I've had thus far in my life... I'm a little stressed over it... mostly because of all the crap they tell you they're not responsible for but can possibly happen... like... lose my sense of smell! I would be so very much pissed at that... I know there were more things... but loss of smell is the one I fear the most... it is so much a part of taste that to lose it...

OKAY! Answers to the question(s), finally!

In the trailer for "Food, INC." There are two authors shown, give me their names (2 pts) and their books (2 pts). This part is much harder, as such, it is worth 6 points. There is a quote in the trailer, "Everything we've done in modern agriculture is to grow it faster, fatter, bigger, cheaper." Who said this (I'll provide a clue, he is shown later in the trailer).

Eric Schlosser, "Fast Food Nation" - 2 points to Jamie
Michael Pollan, "The Omnivore's Dilemma" - 2 points to Jamie
The quote in the trailer was actually Joel Salatin (the farmer talking about nutritionally dense food at the end of the trailer) but Pollan had said it as well... so - 1 point to Jamie.

That puts our scores at: (25 Possible)
Jamie - 10
Milena - 0
Kay - 0
Lindsay - 0

Come on ladies! Jamie is a big boy... he can handle some competition.

Alright, wish me luck, depending on how heavy those teeth are. I could have some more help on my weight loss! :-)

So many missed entries...

So... yeah, I've missed a lot... awesome. I'll post the answer to the quiz question tomorrow. I'll give everyone one final opportunity for the points!

05/28/2009 -
breakfast - smoothie
lunch - 1/2 ham/Swiss sandwich, v-8, cottage cheese, jello w/fruit, small apple, chocolate square
dinner - 5 chicken nuggets, popcorn shrimp, asparagus

I've started looking at when/where I can cut certain things from my usual food intake, I realized that I was eating too much at lunch, and it seems silly to eat an apple and an applesauce. Also, a full sandwich with all the other items was a little much.

05/29/2009 -
breakfast - none
lunch - pulled pork sandwich, green beans, Pepsi Throwback (yum!), cottage cheese, almonds, peanut butter fudge
dinner - two preservative free kosher hot dogs with buns and sauerkraut, asparagus, Bacardi Mojito

It was a nice day, went to my father's that day, so the hot dogs and the asparagus were grilled, which was delightful.

05/30/2009 -
breakfast - none
lunch - cheese burger, fries, a chicken tender, a can of Coke, a small bottle of Gatorade
dinner - 1 personal pan pizza, milk

I went to the KY Ren Faire that day, my options were slim (although the vegetarian haggis was intriguing...) I paid for it that night though... my body has become rather sensitive to nasty food by this point. It's depressing on the one hand, but a positive on the other.

05/31/2009 -
breakfast - 3 pieces of french toast with maple syrup, 3 strips of bacon, 2 eggs, over hard, orange juice
lunch - none
dinner - Clif bar, a Hebrew National hot dog on a piece of bread, Simply Apple, Pepsi Throwback

It was rather sad, I went to Cracker Barrel with my father for breakfast, and couldn't even eat all my food. I left an entire piece of french toast... bittersweet I say.

06/01/2009 -
breakfast - almonds, sugar free Red Bull
lunch - 4 piece chicken tender, french fries, chili dog, root beer (Dairy Queen)
dinner - 2 pieces of sourdough bread with olive oil vinagrette for dip, milk, 3 oatmeal craisin cookies

This morning's weight was the lowest so far, I hope to keep moving in that manner. I was 320.5. Also, I realize that I ate nasty food on a Monday morning, but... since I won't get to eat solid food at all starting on Thursday and possibly running till Sunday/Monday, I think a little slack can be given. Alas, I'm finally getting my wisdom teeth removed. Good times.

06/02/2009 -
breakfast - Clif bar, sugar free Red Bull
lunch - 6" Tuscan Chicken on wheat with Baked Lay's and Lemonade
dinner - 1 fish taco, 1 peanut butter and jelly taco, jello w/fruit, 1 small apple, 1 oatmeal craisin cookie, and milk

So, the guy I work with informed me today that he read an article that said studies were finding some minute amount of cocaine in Red Bull. My reply was "apparently Red Bull gives you wings, and a nosebleed." Bad joke, I know... but it would do well to explain why Red Bull seems exponentially more effective than most of the other energy drinks... am I right?

Yeah, tomorrow, I'll provide the answers... hopefully I'll get back into the swing of entries as well. I've been doing some walking... been getting my 7k steps per day as required for my thing through work, and I've done some of the morning exercise I came up with... that's a b*tch, I tell you. Well, I'm off to bed now.
